Burbank School District No. 111 board adopts $97.65 million FY26 budget
Summary
The Burbank School District No. 111 board unanimously adopted its FY26 budget Sept. 29, approving an all-funds total of $97,653,080 based on unaudited June 30, 2025 balances; the external auditor will present the final audit at the October meeting.
The Board of Education of Burbank School District No. 111 approved its fiscal year 2026 budget on Sept. 29, adopting an all-funds total of $97,653,080.
Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance Dr. Ana Ochoa reviewed the budget materials the board received Aug. 27 and summarized statutory reporting requirements. "The total for all funds is $97,653,080, which will be posted on the district website," she said, and noted the balances reported are unaudited as of June 30, 2025. She told the board the external auditor is scheduled to present the final audit at next month's meeting.
Ochoa referenced Public Act 102-0895, which requires reporting fund balances to the public, and Public Act 103-0394, which limits the three-year average of operating fund expenditures relative to operating funds. She said the district is in compliance with the latter requirement and reported it is under the threshold by $56,714,004.
Vice President Thomas Jansen moved to adopt the FY26 budget "as presented," and Member Gregory Komperda seconded the motion. The board approved the budget by roll-call vote: John Schuetz, Jeniz Greene, Marissa Swistowicz, Jessica Thomas, Thomas Jansen, Gregory Komperda and Agnieszka Dabrowski voted aye; no nays or abstentions were recorded.
During the hearing, Jansen commended Ochoa: he said she had done a "great job in a small district without all the resources other districts have." The board directed that the adopted budget and the required fund-balance reporting be posted on the district website and awaited the auditor's final presentation in October.
The meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
