Board hears update on Hops well drilling; easement must be secured before bidding

The board received an update from Kyler of Jones & DeMille about a proposed well-drilling project at the Hops property. Kyler said the town needs to secure an easement for access and that state procurement practice requires the project be put out to bid for at least three weeks prior to contractor selection. He suggested a temporary construction approval to allow site work to begin while the easement paperwork is finalized.
Mayor Chamberlain said he had spoken with a property co-owner, Ray Dent, who delegates local responsibility to a family member on the adjoining property. Board members discussed timing and the need to follow permitting and easement steps before major work begins.
No bid award was made at the meeting; the consultants and staff will pursue easement documentation and prepare a formal bidding schedule.
