Mr. Ryan provided a financial snapshot covering July through January and said budget meetings with administrators are underway. On facilities and safety, the board was told the middle-school secure entrance is ready and elevator installation at the HED building remains in progress. High-school locker-room work and a new sports entrance are planned and will be paid from GO Bond funds. The district shared an updated HLS (safety) list for future discussion, and the Safety Committee noted a spring ALICE drill is scheduled and that the district’s school resource officer is retiring; the district will work with Chief Senne to interview candidates for replacement.
The Technology Committee reported the district is drafting an AI policy for future board review. The technology update (Logan) said staff resolved 1,705 support requests since Aug. 1, repaired 206 Chromebooks, and are testing Ubiquiti cameras to replace subscription-based Verkada cameras; a door‑reader (FOB) pilot has started at the transportation garage. Technology staff said they are evaluating transportation-system vendors (including Versa Tran R&P), continuing Infinite Campus projects, and preparing ERATE proposals for UPS purchases at network cabinets.
Public comment during the meeting raised concern about a student walkout at the high school; the board recorded the comments but did not take action on the issue during this session. The superintendent noted the board will discuss additional facility and staffing projections at future meetings.
Context: The phone-contract savings and vendor choices for cameras and access controls are operational decisions that can reduce recurring costs; SRO replacement and ALICE drills are part of the district’s safety planning. The board’s agenda lists follow-up items including student insurance, summer-school planning and facility updates.
