Debate over event center use and fire-truck storage highlights gate, camera and floor-planning needs

Commissioners and fire/road staff clashed over practical use of the new community center and fire‑hall storage. Fire staff said storing several trucks and brush rigs in the event space creates repeated work for volunteers and staff during back‑to‑back events and raises security concerns after recent break‑ins: “My only problem or what came up today was wanting to leave the trucks out because we got another event on Friday… I have no way of securing the stuff there, and I had an incident… they broke into that,” a fire official (Agency official, speaker 6) said.

The board did not adopt a new storage policy at the meeting but directed staff to follow up on gate repairs, camera options and a departmental memo about clearing the sand room ahead of remodeling work.
