Treasure County staff member to leave March 31; board accepts resignation

A Treasure County office employee announced at the Feb. 20 meeting that they plan to leave county service effective March 31 and that they are preparing files and passwords to hand off to a successor. The employee said they had informed state grant contacts and asked Nicole and Hannah to serve as points of contact on active grants and offered to stay reachable for questions during the transition.

Board members discussed the shortened candidate filing window for the upcoming election, with the clerk noting the filing deadline is March 4 and the board's next meeting is March 3. The departing employee suggested waiting until the filing period closes before appointing a replacement and offered that, if only one candidate files, the board could appoint them to finish the term; otherwise Ellen could serve as acting staff in the interim.

Commissioner S6 moved to accept the resignation; the motion was seconded and commissioners voted in favor. The chair thanked the departing employee for providing notice and preparing transition materials. The board also reviewed immediate handover tasks, including transfer of grant point-of-contact information and completing paperwork for ongoing registration and election functions.

The board did not take additional personnel actions at the meeting; members asked to review filings after the March 4 deadline and to revisit any necessary appointment steps at a subsequent meeting.
