Maple Grove council approves MY RIDE fare changes, removes 10-pack discount

The Maple Grove City Council voted 5-0 on Nov. 3 to authorize changes to the MY RIDE demand-responsive transit fare structure, including removal of the 10‑pack discount, with the new fares set to take effect Jan. 2, 2026. Councilmember Mike Ostaffe moved the measure, and Councilmember Kristy Janigo seconded it.
Ostaffe said he pulled the item from the consent agenda to highlight the fare changes and to explain the underlying costs. He told the Council the unsubsidized cost to provide a MY RIDE trip was $45 per ride while riders were being charged $3, and he said the remaining subsidy was being provided by state and federal funds. The council did not amend the motion and voted unanimously to implement the changes.
The motion to implement the fare structure changes was authorized without further amendment; the Council did not publish additional fare tables or subsidy breakdowns during the meeting. The item had been removed from the consent agenda for discussion before the vote.
