At Second Street the proposal included six LBD positions, one MST position, an allocation for two speech-pathologist positions (the district has been able to fill only one this year) and four instructional assistants. "You can't in any federal dollars program ... put in those grants something you're already paying for," the superintendent said, describing the federal requirement that IDEA funds supplement, not supplant, local spending.
Following discussion, the board approved the exceptional-education staffing recommendation by voice vote.
The board then considered central-office staffing. The superintendent reported no changes to director positions and listed support roles to be funded: secretary to the superintendent, payroll clerk, accounts-payable and benefits/Medicaid clerk, and two technology specialists. Board members moved and seconded the recommendation and approved central-office staffing by voice vote.
The board set Frankfort High School’s graduation for Friday, June 5, at 7 p.m. in the FD Wilkinson Gymnasium; the motion carried by voice vote.
