Planning director presents level-funded FY27 budget; committee discusses model update and schedule

Tony Fields, Director of Planning for the Town of Bedford, presented the department's proposed FY27 budget at the Finance Committee meeting on Jan. 8 and said the proposal is level funded from the prior year. Fields told the committee the presentation will be saved to Dropbox for review at a following meeting.
Committee members used the meeting to raise recurring business items: they discussed the need for an up-to-date planning model to be stored in a new Dropbox folder. Finance Committee member Phil Prince was assigned to follow up with Town Manager Mr. Hanson to locate or update the model.
The committee also discussed the calendar for upcoming Finance Committee meetings and approved minutes from the Nov. 20, 2025 meeting (motion by Mark Bailey, second by George Lee). Members reported recent external meetings attended (Mr. Bailey — School Committee; Mr. Lee — Board of Health). The meeting adjourned at 7:59 PM.
No formal vote was taken on the FY27 Planning budget at this session; the item was presented and noted for follow-up.
