Clovis Unified recognizes county educator awardees and features Clovis North choir

Clovis Unified’s Governing Board opened its March 5 meeting with special presentations that included a performance by the Clovis North High School Choir and recognition of district employees honored in the 2024 Fresno County Educator of the Year program.
Under the direction of Mrs. Heather Bishop, the Clovis North choir performed two selections in honor of National Music in Our Schools Month. The board then recognized district staff who were named to the county awards program: Steve Soma, plant supervisor at Sierra Vista Elementary School (School Employee of the Year finalist); Ben Canzano, adapted physical education teacher in Special Education (Teacher of the Year, county winner); and Tachua Vue, Ed.D., principal at Tarpey Elementary School (Administrator of the Year, county winner).
Superintendent Corrine Folmer, Ed.D., also shared district updates and Student Board Representative Sajan Gill from Clovis North High School reported on activities and achievements in the district’s comprehensive areas. The recognitions and student report were presented early in the public session prior to the board’s action items.
The board adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
