The Clovis Unified School District Governing Board met April 2, 2025, at the district Professional Development Building and approved an amended agenda, a package of routine consent items and several formal resolutions and actions. President Yolanda Moore called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m.; the board reconvened from a closed session at 6:38 p.m.
The board adopted the meeting agenda with an amendment to the title of consent item O-11 regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 250 and Clovis Unified. Board Member Tiffany Stoker Madsen moved the motion; Board Member Hugh Awtrey seconded. The motion passed 4-0 with Board Member Clinton Olivier not present for the vote.
During closed session the board approved routine personnel matters and student-discipline matters related to Students 25-19 through 25-23; both actions were reported in open session and approved 5-0.
On the consent calendar the board approved conference requests, fundraiser and student trip requests, voluntary community recreation programs, the March 19, 2025 meeting minutes, ratified purchase orders/contracts/warrants numbered 690134 through 690984, approved change orders, adopted the Clovis Adult Education 2025–26 school calendar, and authorized renewal of the district's agreement with the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Center for 2025–26. The consent calendar also included Resolution No. 4043 to name the large livestock barn at the McFarlane Coffman Ag Center at Clovis East High School after longtime Clovis Unified teacher Ken Dias; that resolution was adopted as part of the consent actions.
The board moved and passed a Provisional Internship Permit for a recommended teaching candidate and adopted Resolution No. 4040 approving conveyance of rights-of-way to Fresno County and easements to Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for utility installation at the Terry P. Bradley Educational Center. Both motions passed by recorded vote 5-0.
Separately, the board "sunshined" and scheduled a public hearing to reopen the collective bargaining agreement with CSEA Chapter 250; the hearing will be April 23, 2025, no earlier than 6:45 p.m. at 1680 David E. Cook Way, Clovis, California.
Several informational items were presented for future consideration, including the Annual Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators, a reopener sunshine proposal with CSEA Chapter 250, annual resolutions recognizing Employee Appreciation Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, the spring textbook adoption for 2025–26, and planned procurement and construction bids.
