Fulton County approves $230,699 grant for 911 system maintenance and hires per‑diem dispatcher

EMA/911 Director Brian Barton and HR Administrator Mary Huston briefed the board on the grant, which the county said will be applied toward SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance.
Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement; the motion passed unanimously. At the same meeting the board approved hiring Troy Wagaman as a Per‑Diem 911 Dispatcher, pending required clearances. A brief Salary Board convened at 9:48 a.m. to set the new dispatcher's pay before the commissioners moved into an executive session for personnel matters later in the meeting.
The actions aim to maintain the county's emergency communications infrastructure and address staffing needs for its 911 operations.
