Fulton County adopts 2026 budget, holds tax rate steady

Fulton County Commissioners unanimously adopted the county's proposed 2026 budget and approved a tax levy resolution that maintains the current tax rate. The action was taken at the board's Dec. 30 meeting after Fiscal Administrator Sue Reed and CFO Mike Lamb reported no changes since the budget's public advertisement.
The adoption implements the county's annual spending plan for fiscal year 2026 and was paired with approval of Resolution 8 of 2025, the Tax Levy and Appropriation Resolution, which the board said carries no increase in county taxes. Commissioners approved the December 2025 Pension Report as presented by HR Administrator Mary Huston and signed off on routine accounts payable totaling $112,913.87, including $98,764.92 from the General Fund and $14,148.95 from Debt Service.
The votes on the budget, tax levy and related financial items were recorded as "all in favor." County officials said the budget presented at the meeting reflects the version advertised for public review; Fiscal Administrator Sue Reed said there were no changes since advertisement. The board plans to reconvene for its reorganizational meeting on Jan. 6, 2026 for certain appointments.
