The Whitestown police chief presented the department's January operational report at the Feb. 3, 2026 meeting, saying the department handled 1,543 calls for service, including 580 traffic stops and 70 case reports, and recorded 19 arrests.
The chief said the top categories of calls were traffic stops, extra patrols (including domestic-violence-related responses affected by weather and interstate conditions), alarms (which the chief said are largely false), and vehicle collisions, which totaled 63 for the month. The chief also reported a total of 186 training hours for the department and highlighted specialized scenario-based training conducted with the drone operators.
The chief noted the department held an awards banquet during which multiple officers were recognized: Officer Peter Bolt was named rookie of the year; Officer Zach Thomas received the "Big Fish" award; Officer Thomas Williams received a life-saving award; Officers Parks, Hernandez and Linus received outstanding police awards; and Veil McCarty was named 2025 officer of the year. The transcript records these names as announced by the chief.
The chief invited questions; none were raised during the meeting. The commission accepted the report as presented and moved on to new business.
The commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m.
