Committee refers Senate Bill 1585 to House Rules for more review

The committee chair opened a short work session Thursday and moved to refer Senate Bill 1585 to the House Rules Committee so lawmakers would have time to review public feedback and possible amendments.
During the session the chair said the committee had received “quite a bit of feedback on this bill,” and that the compressed calendar of the short session made additional time to analyze that feedback necessary. Vice Chair Taichi then formally moved that “Senate Bill 1585A [be sent] without recommendation as to passage and that the bill be referred to the committee on rules.”
Representative Ropeshki said they would vote yes on the motion and asked that “special districts are included in the conversation of this new threshold.” No other speakers raised objections during the discussion.
A roll-call vote recorded affirmative responses for Representatives Kate, Chilton, Gomberg, Rushdie, Wallen, Walters and Hawaii, and for Vice Chairs Taichi and Osborne and the committee chair. The motion passed; the committee announced that the bill is headed to the House Rules Committee for further consideration.
The chair closed the work session, said there was no further business, and adjourned the meeting. The committee said any future meetings this session will be at the call of the chair.
