Council hears Brightline, Tri-Rail updates; city schedules police HQ workshop

Council member Drucker said she attended events around Brightline's inaugural America 250 train and met Brightline leadership, including president Patrick Goddard and CEO Nicholas Petrovic. Drucker said Brightline leaders were optimistic about Boca Raton's station and possible expansion (a second platform) and described interest in a Coastal Connection commuter service. "BrightLine is not going under," she said, adding that the company and regional partners are discussing commuter-rail opportunities.
Drucker also reported that Tri-Rail (SFRTA) had been funded in federal appropriations after earlier uncertainty, and she highlighted her role on MPO and National League of Cities transit work. Council member Reeder promoted the downtown Festival of the Arts and directed residents to myboca.us and downtownboca.org for event information.
City manager staff announced the final public workshop on the police department headquarters would be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2:00–3:30 p.m. at Spanish River Library.
Why it matters: Transportation investments and regional rail discussions can affect local connectivity, development patterns and economic activity. The police HQ workshop is an opportunity for public input on a major capital project.
