Board members also approved reinstating a discounted sticker level for households in the Michigan City school boundaries so those residents can buy La Porte County stickers at the La Porte rate ($40) rather than the Porter County rate ($100); staff said the change covers areas such as The Pines and Beverly Shores and is intended to address a frequent public complaint about sticker affordability.
Public commenters asked how temporary license plates will be handled and sought clarification on staffing levels; staff said the office will temporarily register plates upon request and that enforcement will be conducted by roving teams in carts or vehicles scanning plates with a handheld device.
