Chester County holds CDBG needs assessment; staff to refine project priorities ahead of application deadlines

Community Development Director Grazier Rhea conducted the required Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) needs assessment hearing, explaining program rules, allowable funding categories and match requirements. Rhea said the county currently has three active CDBG projects, noting two are in service (a Great Falls fire service truck and a Chester EMS ambulance). She reviewed the county's priority needs—including infrastructure, public facilities, sidewalks and streetscapes, blight clearance, economic development and housing—and asked council to help refine those priorities ahead of CDBG application deadlines.
Rhea agreed to work with council to vet potential projects and return with an updated priority list in advance of application deadlines.
No formal funding decisions were taken at the meeting; the hearing fulfills program requirements for community input ahead of potential applications.
