The Senate Finance Committee on a voice vote reinstated an education committee amendment that counsel said had been inadvertently omitted from Committee Substitute for House Bill 52‑12, then adopted the amendment and voted to report the measure to the full Senate.
The Chair said the omission was unintentional and that the committee was “simply putting it back in.” Counsel apologized to the committee for failing to present the amendments earlier and described the changes as technical.
After brief procedural questions and no requests for further amendment, the committee adopted the education amendment on a voice vote and the Vice Chairman moved the committee substitute be reported to the full Senate with the recommendation that it pass; the motion carried.
The committee’s action leaves the amended committee substitute to be considered next by the full Senate.
