Council member reports Arbor Day plantings and restoration progress at The Park at Flat Rock

Council Member Carpenter told the Flat Rock Village council at an April 29 agenda workshop that The Park at Flat Rock saw an Arbor Day event on April 27 that drew 22 people and included the planting of a Franklinia tree and a Dawn Redwood by three Boy Scouts. Carpenter said park staff and volunteers have completed significant stream restoration work on Dye Creek, with grass seed applied to areas damaged during restoration and willow and understory stakes planted along portions of the new stream banks.
Carpenter said that previously approved security cameras will be installed at the playground to improve safety, and that Park Director Dages has submitted a request to the state for reimbursement of park-related expenses. Carpenter added that the Pollinator Garden sign has been completed and Park Director Dages is coordinating with the manufacturer for installation.
The council did not take a formal vote on park work during the workshop; Carpenter’s update was provided as an informational briefing ahead of the council’s regular meeting schedule. The council did not record additional public comment on the park in the minutes.
