The Raeford City Council unanimously approved a request May 1 to rezone a 0.22-acre parcel at 601 N. Vass Road from R-6 (Residential 6,000) to RMH (Residential Manufactured Home) to accommodate a new manufactured home.
Felecia Locklear, the city's code administrator, told the council the triangular parcel is located in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction, is served by NorthWest Water and would require a septic tank. Locklear said the lot can meet required setbacks and that surrounding zoning includes at least one recently rezoned RMH parcel and several pre-existing manufactured-home lots.
Locklear said the Planning Board met April 24 and recommended approval after determining the request met applicable standards and would not unreasonably impact the neighborhood given the Unified Development Ordinance and the 2030 Land Use Plan. No members of the public registered to speak for or against the rezoning during the public hearing.
Councilman John Jordan moved to approve the rezoning and Councilman Wayne Willis seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The rezoning clears the way for the applicants, Lakisha Graham and James Alan Graham, to place a manufactured home on the parcel. The council did not state additional conditions beyond compliance with applicable development standards.
