Parks director warns cuts to park impact fees would hinder growth, urges board attention

"They are looking to, tighten park impact fees and greatly reduce them, which would limit the ability for the parks department to grow with the community," Lane said, and she urged attendees to include parks priorities if they contact legislators.
She also summarized complementary planning documents — an urban forestry management plan and a maintenance management plan — that guide tree inventories, species diversity and service levels. Lane framed parks requests to boards as system-level outcomes (connectivity, trail easements, accessibility) rooted in previously adopted plans.
No formal policy change was proposed at the session; Lane's presentation was informational and intended to give board members context for future project reviews and advocacy.
