Bremer County approves claims totaling $157,523.84, grants deputy step increase and sets paving bid date

The board also approved a payroll step increase for Deputy Sheriff Kevin Hernandez from $79,454 per year to $82,540 per year, effective March 22, 2026; Hildebrandt moved and Cerwinske seconded the motion. A liquor license renewal for Willow Run Country Club, 940 E. Fayette St., Denver, was approved on motion by Hildebrandt and seconded by Cerwinske.
County Engineer Landon Moore provided a weekly department update, after which the board set the bid letting for the C38/T77 paving project for April 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The board also noted correspondence including an email from the Iowa Primary Care Association (the minutes do not specify the subject) and that Auditor Shelley Wolf reported the City of Sumner will hold a special election April 28, 2026 requiring a budget amendment for department 10, with costs to be billed back to the city. The board adjourned at 10:22 a.m.
