Clovis Unified board approves consent items, vendor agreements and construction awards; adopts volunteer coverage resolutions

At its July 16 meeting the Clovis Unified Governing Board approved a slate of consent and action items covering student services, vendor agreements and capital‑project related procurements.
On the consent agenda the board authorized an annual agreement with Food 4 Thought to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to CUSD preschool families; approved a Memorandum of Understanding with J&D Mind Builders/Bricks4Kidz for Expanded Learning Club enrichment (effective Aug. 1, 2025–June 30, 2026); and authorized an agreement with Comprehensive Youth Services to support Parent Resource Centers across several school areas for 2025‑26. The board also ratified purchase orders and warrants numbered 694443 through 696192 and approved change orders as submitted.
The board approved legal services agreements with Dannis Woliver Kelley; Fagen, Friedman & Fulfrost LLP; Fresno County Superintendent of Schools; Lozano Smith; and McCormick Barstow. It approved a lease agreement between the District and Clovis Online Charter School and provisional internship permits for recommended teaching candidates.
On procurement, the board awarded RFQ No. 3038 for custom printing; Bid No. 3039 for campus security improvements, phase 6; and RFP No. 3040 for a rebid of sports officials. The minutes show all motions on these items passed 4–0.
The board adopted Resolutions No. 4058 and No. 4059 to provide general liability and workers' compensation coverage for volunteer personnel. Information items presented for review included proposed CSBA membership dues of $27,556 and CSBA Education Legal Alliance dues of $6,200 for 2025–26, renewal of agreements for students with special needs placed in non‑public schools, and authorization of construction costs for outdoor bleachers and a press box at the Terry P. Bradley Educational Center.
The board recognized Pinedale community volunteers who "Stood in the Gap" to support student safety and viewed a video of Clovis North High School Winter Guard's 2025 performance. President Yolanda Moore left the meeting at 7:15 p.m. because she was not feeling well; with quorum lost the meeting was adjourned at that time and remaining discussion (non‑action items) continued until 7:38 p.m.
