The Jackson County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously March 4 to approve Order No. 66-26, transferring county jurisdiction for portions of East Main Street and Clay Street within the City of Ashland to the city. The board opened a public hearing on the transfer and closed it without receiving testimony before taking the vote.
County Administrator Danny Jordan told the board that Jackson County currently has jurisdiction over portions of East Main Street and Clay Street inside Ashland city limits and that the City of Ashland initiated the jurisdictional transfer by City of Ashland Resolution No. 2026-01. Deputy County Counsel Pete Philbrick read Section 213.07 (Rules for the Conduct of Public Hearings) from Jackson County’s codified ordinances before the hearing proceeded. The board noted that notice of the hearing was published in the Rogue River Press on February 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2026, as required by ORS 373.270.
Commissioner Randy Sparacino moved to approve Order No. 66-26 as read; Commissioner Colleen Roberts seconded. Commissioners Sparacino, Roberts and Chair Rick Dyer voted aye and the motion passed. No public objections or testimony were recorded during the hearing.
The order implements the jurisdictional transfer if the board’s findings support the transfer; the transcript states the effective date of transfer will be the date of the Board Order. The board took the action during its March 4, 2026 regular meeting in the Courthouse Auditorium and by audio/videoconference.
