Committee advances three housing bills to the House floor; carriers named

The House Committee on Housing and Homelessness on Feb. 26 advanced three bills to the House floor with due‑pass recommendations.

SB 15‑13A: Committee staff reminded members this measure sets an operative date (July 1, 2027) restricting real‑estate teams from using the terms “realty” or “real estate” or names identical to a registered business. Vice Chair Anderson moved the bill to the House floor with a due‑pass recommendation; the clerk conducted a roll call and the motion carried. The committee asked for a House floor carrier and Representative Breeze Iverson was later solicited for carriage.

SB 15‑61A: Staff said the bill would require local governments to approve restoration or replacement of a dwelling damaged in a natural disaster through a process other than a land‑use decision under specified conditions and limits on size and placement. Vice Chair Anderson moved SB 15‑61A to the floor with a due‑pass recommendation; the roll call recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed. Representative Wright agreed to carry the bill to the House floor.

SB 15‑76A: Staff summarized changes that expand the Director of Consumer and Business Services’ authority to adopt standards more stringent than federal requirements for covered multifamily dwellings and to require subsidized developments receiving OHS funding to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Vice Chair Anderson moved SB 15‑76A to the floor with a due‑pass recommendation; the committee approved the motion and named Representative Anderson as carrier for the House floor.

All three motions passed in committee by recorded votes; two committee members were excused for at least some votes. The committee’s actions send the bills to the House calendar where additional debate, amendment or floor votes may occur.
