Raeford council reviews preliminary parks master plan; pickleball court suggested

The City Manager presented preliminary conceptual drawings for the 2022 Parks Master Plan and solicited input from the council. Councilman Wayne Willis had suggested including a pickleball court at Robbin Heights Park; the manager said the current design appears to have sufficient space to accommodate a court. Councilman Charles Allen asked that the parking lot at McLauchlin Park be increased in size. City Manager Dennis Baxley said he would carry the suggestions back to the design engineers for revision.
No formal vote was taken on the master plan at the Feb. 6 meeting; the council approved a separate land acquisition for Robbin Heights Park earlier on the consent agenda.
