Commission approves off-road race permit with fire-safety conditions

Jackson said entrants are required to carry fire extinguishers and that volunteers include wildland-certified participants.
Iron County Fire Warden Spencer Ola (S5) advised that the county is in a record-dry year and recommended a contracted local brush truck or fire-department standby for the event because hand-held extinguishers and water storage may not be sufficient for rapid response. Commissioners directed the organizer to coordinate with local fire agencies and to notify recently opened gravel operations on Comstock Road to avoid conflicts.
