Commissioners approve BFJRA governance changes, $230,699.51 interconnectivity grant and multiple appointments

Representatives from the Bedford Fulton Joint Recreational Authority's board'Matthew Wakefield, Paul Johnston and Eric Weisbrod'presented two amendments. Commissioners approved Resolution 9 of 2025 to increase the number of BFJRA board members and Resolution 10 of 2025 to authorize the authority to appoint police officers who would hold the same rights as other Commonwealth police officers; motions were made by Commissioner Steven L. Wible and carried unanimously.
Commissioners appointed Craig Cutchall to a one-year term on the Bedford Fulton Joint Recreational Authority, expiring Jan. 3, 2027. The board also approved an agreement to retain Keller Engineer, Inc. for fiscal year 2026; the company will be formally appointed at the Reorganizational Meeting on Jan. 6, 2026.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51, which the board approved. The grant will be used toward SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioners approved Planning Commission meeting dates for fiscal year 2026 and voted to hire Troy Wagaman as a Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, pending clearances. A brief Salary Board meeting set the salary for the new dispatcher. The board entered an executive session for personnel matters from 10:01 a.m. to 10:29 a.m. and adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
