Fulton County commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month at their Feb. 24 meeting, and posed for a group photograph with local service providers and consumers.
Human Services Director Julie Dovey and representatives from Occupational Services Inc., The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties, Full Circle Residence and Lupey Behavioral Services attended the presentation. Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the proclamation, noting the county "becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities." The motion carried unanimously.
Attendees recorded in the minutes include Marissa Hockenberry (Occupational Services Inc.), Erica Ramsey (CRI), Rebecca Weaver (Franklin/Fulton IDD Program Specialist), Deanna Shaeffer and Lianne Garner (Full Circle Residence), Donald Smith (Full Circle Residence), Leigh-Anna Lupey and lan Lupey (Lupey Behavioral Services), Logan Crouse (consumer of The Arc), Stacey Brookens (MH/IDD/EI) and others. The board commended the observance and encouraged community recognition throughout March.
