Raeford council hears funding presentations from local nonprofits

Mayor John K. McNeill III called a special meeting of the Raeford City Council on May 12, 2021, to hear local nonprofit organizations that had submitted funding applications present their needs and plans.
Representatives from five organizations spoke to the council. Charles Tapp, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Elizabeth McNeill, the chamber’s executive director, attended; Jimmy Stewart, commander of the Rescue Squad; Linda Revels, chairman of the Children’s Developmental Center, and Rose Chavis, its director; Delia McNeill, director of the Museum; and Carol Tate, director of the Literacy Council, each summarized their organization’s goals and plans for the coming year and thanked the council for its continued support.
According to the meeting record, the council did not ask questions of the presenters. Mayor McNeill thanked everyone in attendance for sharing information about their programs and funding needs.
A motion to adjourn the special meeting was made by Councilman John Jordan and seconded by Councilman Wayne Willis; the motion was carried unanimously. The minutes were signed by Betty Smith, City Clerk, and Mayor John K. McNeill III.
