Orange Beach proclaims July Parks and Recreation Month, outlines events and pop-up park

The Orange Beach City Council on July 1 proclaimed July 2025 as Parks and Recreation Month, recognizing parks and recreation programs’ role in community health, youth development and civic life.
Nicole Art, Parks and Recreation director, thanked the council and described a schedule of July events, including a rock-and-roll tie-dye party at the senior center, a pop-up park near the museum and City Hall with a hot-dog-eating contest and a band concert, and additional family-friendly programming. She also acknowledged the committee and staff who organized the month’s activities and distributed pocket calendars for the events.
'This is going to highlight some of the things that we do, and we really packed this month full of activities and events to show this community what we can do for them and involve everyone,' Art said.
Council members praised the department’s efforts and thanked staff for organizing the events. The proclamation notes that the U.S. House of Representatives designated July as Parks and Recreation Month and that Orange Beach formally recognizes the observance for 2025.
