City Administrator Jim Lancaster told the Milan City Council on Jan. 7 that the city received a perfect fiscal‑year 2024 audit review and that City Assessor Currie earned a Certificate of Achievement for a perfect assessment audit. Lancaster encouraged residents to complete the winter edition community survey in Milan Connections to support the master plan.
Lancaster also announced that the wastewater treatment plant project and associated grant appropriations and the Spark grant project were put out for bid that week. Councilmember Snyder urged residents to take the survey to help shape the master plan.
During citizens matters non‑resident Cassie Prior announced on behalf of the Milan School Board that Milan Schools Superintendent Bryan Girbach is retiring; the board will hold community meetings to guide the search for a replacement.
In staff and council reports Mayor Pro‑Tem Wayne said Governor Whitmer appointed her to an eight‑year term on the Board of Trustees of Michigan Technological University in Houghton. Wayne said the appointment aligns with her educational background and will require travel to Houghton at least five times a year.
The council approved routine consent items and bills and adjourned at 7:20 p.m.; no further discussion or votes on the reporting items were recorded.
