Milan council approves MDOT reconstruction agreement, Comcast PEG fee, wastewater engineering and dispatch contract

At its April 1 meeting the Milan City Council approved a series of infrastructure and service measures, all by unanimous vote.
The council adopted Resolution 2025‑05 to enter an agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation for reconstruction work on Michigan Avenue from North Street to Ash Street. Councilmember Stafford moved the resolution; Councilmember Kerkes seconded.
The council also adopted Resolution 2025‑06, directing Comcast to provide PEG (Public, Educational and Government) support via a 2% PEG fee. That resolution was moved and seconded by the same members and passed unanimously.
Council approved an OHM Construction Engineering proposal for wastewater treatment plant improvements in an amount not to exceed $544,000.00. The motion, moved by Councilmember Kofflin and seconded by Councilmember Stafford, carried unanimously.
Separately, the council approved a dispatch service contract with Washtenaw County at $85,467.00 per year, effective March 24, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Councilmember Snyder moved the contract; Councilmember Kerkes seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The consent agenda — including special event permits for the Memorial Day Parade and the Milan Youth League Parade and Opening Day Ceremony, and routine department reports — was approved earlier in the meeting. The council also approved bills payable and payroll totaling $421,326.53.
