The Deptford Township Board of Education approved an extensive personnel agenda at its July 15 meeting, adopting retirements, resignations, leaves, promotions and new appointments across the district.
On a motion by Ed Kalinowski seconded by Jim McDevitt, the board accepted retirements including teacher Erika Annin (effective Dec. 1, 2025) and approved resignations and one termination (employee #4056 effective June 18, 2025). The motion also authorized leaves of absence, multiple transfers between schools (for example Amanda Ryan to Lake Tract and Mark Petito to Shady Lane for 2025-26), and a long list of hires for the 2025-2026 school year: bus drivers and aides, paraprofessionals for Central Early Childhood Center, a full-time PreK teacher roster, substitute custodians, substitute nurses and substitute teachers. Several district staff promotions were approved, including Leah Giles to Athletics and Activities Secretary effective July 7, 2025 and Karen Young to Special Education Teacher (BA Step 1) effective Sept. 1, 2025.
The agenda also included administrative assignments required by state law: Leigh Brown was appointed McKinney-Vento Liaison and Michael Nicely was named District HIB Coordinator and Division of Child Protection & Permanency (D.C.P.P.) coordinator for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. All personnel motions carried on recorded roll call votes documented as 8-0.
Several long-term substitute assignments, coach and volunteer coach appointments for fall sports, and Extended School Year staffing were included. Many hires and rehires were conditioned on criminal-history record clearance and completion of required paperwork as noted in the agenda.
