Raeford council adopts consent agenda, approves $44,600 engineering contract and declares surplus items for auction

The Raeford City Council unanimously approved its Consent Agenda Feb. 1, endorsing administrative and contract items that city staff said are routine steps in ongoing operations and capital projects.
Among items approved, the council accepted the FY 2021–2022 budget calendar and approved amending the audit contract with Haigh, Byrd & Lambert, LLP to change the Local Government Commission (LGC) submittal date to March 1, 2021. The council also updated the city's travel policy to reflect the IRS mileage rate for 2021 of 56.0¢ per mile.
The council approved an engineering agreement with LKC Engineering, PLLC in the amount of $44,600 for design and permitting work to relocate the city's water and sewer infrastructure outside the state right-of-way as part of the North Carolina Department of Transportation widening of Highway 211. City staff indicated the city will be reimbursed for expenses according to the NCDOT agreement.
Council members also adopted Resolution No. 2021-01 declaring specified vehicles and equipment surplus and authorizing electronic auction of the surplus property beginning no earlier than Feb. 22, 2021 on GovDeals.com, as allowed under N.C. G.S. 160A-270. The resolution names a 2008 Tomberlin electric golf cart and a 2003 Yamaha G-Max golf cart for electronic auction.
The consent motion, made by Councilwoman Mary Neil King and seconded by Councilman Charles Allen, carried unanimously. Departmental monthly reports and revenue/expenditure reports were also accepted as submitted.
