Deptford board renews contracts, raises Spartan Care pay and appoints new solicitor

At its Jan. 27 meeting, the Deptford Township Board of Education approved a set of finance and contract actions, including staff-rate changes for Spartan Care and multiple vendor and tuition agreements.
The board approved changing the Spartan Care School Lead rate from $19.50 to $20.00 per hour and the Spartan Care Provider rate from $17.00 to $17.75 per hour, effective Jan. 5, 2026. The board also approved renewal of the Ed Data Supply Procurement System license and maintenance fee for the 2026–2027 school year at $19,860 and presented a 3-year Comcast contract renewal for district internet services with proposed pricing of $3,699 per month for Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and $1,555 per month for Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) for the term July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029.
The minutes list tuition agreements for the 2025–26 year with Camden Promise Charter School for eight students ($162,592), Leap Academy Charter School for two students ($35,614), and Hope Community Charter School for three students ($47,267); the board also recorded a contract with the State of New Jersey Department of Children & Families for reimbursement of tuition and transportation for two students. The board approved a contract with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired for Level I services at $1,476 for one student.
The board moved to appoint Capehart Scatchard, P.A. as Board Solicitor effective Feb. 1, 2026 through Jan. 31, 2027. The finance block and related items carried on the roll call recorded in the minutes as 7-0.
