House adopts resolution honoring Alan Johnson for decades of substance‑use recovery work

The clerk told members the resolution was offered by Representatives Matayoshi and Kitagawa. A sponsor moved to adopt the measure and Representative Kitagawa seconded; the House approved the item by voice vote.
“Alan Johnson has 30 years of excellent service and contributions to addressing substance and behavioral health issues in the state,” a sponsor said during floor remarks, describing Johnson's long involvement in Windward community programs and legislative efforts. Kitagawa said Hina Mauka provides residential treatment, day programs and outpatient services, including teen-care programming in middle and high schools across Oahu and Kauai, and noted the organization has served “over 70,000 people” seeking recovery.
Members in the chamber praised Johnson's leadership and thanked him for his contributions; Representative Kong offered personal congratulations. After the voice vote carried, the presiding officer called a recess to allow members to present a certificate and greet the honoree.
The resolution is ceremonial and does not create a new program or appropriation. The House adjourned later in the day and will reconvene at noon the following day.
