Waupaca County Board of Supervisors members on Sept. 17 approved a set of routine but consequential measures, including donations to the sheriff’s office, a reauthorization of the county’s workers' compensation self-insurance program and two zoning amendments.
The board adopted Resolution No. 19 to accept two donations for the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office: $1,000 from Fletcher’s Jewelry, Inc. to support the department’s Shop with a Cop program and $2,000 from Ted and Beth Coppersmith for the K9 unit. Supervisor Fred Zaug moved adoption; Supervisor Pete Bosquez seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 24-0.
Resolution No. 20 authorized the county to accept a 2016 Crestliner C18CE 18-foot motor boat (estimated value $15,000) donated by the Town of Farmington and the Town of Dayton to support the Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol. Supervisor Pete Bosquez moved the resolution; Supervisor Cindy Hardy seconded. The board approved the donation, 24-0.
By Resolution No. 21 the board reauthorized Waupaca County’s self-insured workers' compensation program. The resolution, as presented, affirms the county’s agreement to report compensable injuries and to comply with the Wisconsin Workers' Compensation Act and Wisconsin Administrative Code DWD 80.60(3). Supervisor Zaug moved adoption; Supervisor DuWayne Federwitz seconded. The motion carried, 24-0.
The county also enacted two zoning amendments recommended by the Planning & Zoning Committee following public hearings. Petition Z-013-2024, requested by Gregory N. Jacobson et al., changes a parcel in the Town of Scandinavia from Private Recreation and Forestry (PVRF) to Rural Residential-Overlay (RR-O); Supervisor James Nygaard moved approval and Supervisor Dennis Wengelski seconded, 24-0. Petition Z-014-2024, requested by Craig Kennedy, amends a parcel in the Town of St. Lawrence from Agriculture Retention (AR) to Rural Residential-Overlay (RR-O); Supervisor Miller moved approval and Supervisor Kraeger seconded, 24-0. Both committee reports noted town-level approval and consistency with local comprehensive plans.
Appointments and abstentions: the board appointed Judy Suhs to the Law Enforcement Committee (motion carried 22-0 with two abstentions) and Bernie Ritchie to the In Rem Committee (motion carried 23-0 with one abstention).
Procedural items included unanimous approval of the meeting agenda and the Aug. 20, 2024 minutes. The meeting adjourned at 10:11 a.m.
