Deptford board accepts federal and state education funds, approves contracts and vendor rates for 2025-26

The Board of Education of the Township of Deptford voted Aug. 19 to accept federal and state education funds for the upcoming school year and to approve a set of contracts and vendor rates for special-education and related services.
Finance Chair Mark Getsinger moved the finance motions, seconded by Dan McCurdy; the board carried the motions by roll-call votes of 8-0. The board certified the revised secretary and cash reports for June 2025 and approved budget transfers for July 2025 consistent with N.J. statutes and administrative code cited in the agenda.
Grants and reimbursements accepted included Title I-A ($734,915), Title IV-A ($47,277), Title II-A ($120,965), IDEA Basic ($1,175,113), IDEA Preschool ($39,006), Title III ($14,895), Title III Immigrant ($2,368), Perkins ($20,803), a 2024-25 Non-Public Transportation Reimbursement ($24,284) and 2024-25 Extraordinary Aid ($766,051). The board approved a $12,120 contract with NoRedInk for targeted writing practice at Deptford High School and accepted donations listed on the agenda (200 drawstring supply bags from Avantor Sciences; a Bonefish Grill promotion card used for Spartan Care fundraising).
The board also approved a long list of vendor contracts and billable rates for 2025-26 special-education and related services (as enumerated in the agenda). Notable entries included contracts with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired with per-pupil Level 1 services at $2,541 and Level 2 services at $6,064, and varying per-day and hourly rates for out-of-district placements and related services.
Board members certified that, following review of the secretary's monthly financial report and consultation with district officials, no major accounts were over-expended and sufficient funds were available for the remainder of the fiscal year. The board then proceeded to other agenda items.
