Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne proposes Mayors’ Monarch Pledge for Milan

Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne told the council she learned of a no-cost initiative through the National Wildlife Federation called the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge Program and encouraged Milan to participate. Wayne said the pledge includes three activities and would involve the Milan Beautification Commission and city volunteers to plant or transplant milkweed and nectar-inducing plants in Nature Park to aid monarch butterflies.
Wayne described the program as having no cost to the city and encouraged other residents with similar ideas to reach out to council members. Councilmembers responded positively to the suggestion and thanked volunteers and commission members for ongoing beautification work.
