The Milan City Council approved multiple routine and capital items during its July 15 meeting, carrying each motion unanimously.
Key formal actions included the discharge of a temporary easement for public-utilities construction at 1200 Dexter (motion by Councilmember Stafford, seconded by Councilmember Kerkes), and the Planning Commission-backed requirement that the Jimmy Johns/Dunkin' restaurant construct a sidewalk during its construction phase rather than defer it to a post-construction bond (motion by Councilmember Snyder, seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne). The council also approved a contract with Carlisle Wartman for commercial plan review (motion by Councilmember Snyder, seconded by Councilmember Kerkes).
For the Riverbank Center, the council awarded Titan Decks the deck estimate in an amount not to exceed $68,000 (motion by Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne, seconded by Councilmember Kofflin). The council then approved payment of bills and payroll totaling $873,454.34 (motion by Councilmember Stafford, seconded by Councilmember Thompson). All motions carried unanimously.
The meeting packet included two special-event requests by Moving Milan Forward—the "Coffee Off" on Oct. 4 and the 4th Annual "Milan Rides for Kids" on Sept. 20—which were approved on the consent agenda (motion by Councilmember Snyder, seconded by Councilmember Thompson). The council adjourned at 7:37 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 5, 2025.
