Summary
A council committee moved a slate of mayoral nominations and technical bills to the consent agenda for the March 3 legislative meeting, approving prints and reports with unanimous ayes. Items included three Real Property Tax Appeals Commission reappointments and two Events DC board reappointments.
The committee moved a block of confirmations and technical measures to the consent agenda for the March 3 legislative meeting after brief presentations and no recorded opposition.
Chair (S1) said three mayoral nominations to the Real Property Tax Appeals Commission—PR26-444 (Cliff Dean Jones), PR26-445 (May Chan) and PR26-446 (Trent Williams)—were scheduled to move together; the committee received no testimony in opposition and approved the prints and reports with leave for staff to make technical edits. "Without objection, these 3 are moved, together," the chair said, and members responded with unanimous "aye" votes.
Two mayoral nominees to the Washington Convention and Sports Authority (Events DC) board—PR26-475 (Julio J. Haddock Ortiz) and PR26-476 (Leif Dormstrow)—also moved with the consent recommendation after a committee explanation of Events DC's role and the board's composition. The chair said the committee held a roundtable and received only government witnesses; the prints and reports were moved and approved unanimously.
Other technical measures moved to the consent agenda included bill 26-371 (closure of a portion of a public alley in Square 2319) and bill 26-426 (Holding Company System Amendment Act of 2026) to update insurance holding-company calculations and add liquidity stress-test reporting to align with NAIC accreditation requirements. Committee members thanked staff and sponsors and recorded unanimous approval to place those measures on the consent agenda.
The committee recorded standard confirmations from the budget director, secretary, and general counsel that the measures were legally sufficient and that records would be complete once reports were filed. The slate will appear on the consent calendar at the legislative meeting on March 3.
