Mayor Ed Kolar called the Jan. 6 council meeting to order. During the meeting Joe Verlin of Gabridge Auditors presented the City of Milan’s fiscal year 2025 audit, reporting that at the close of June 2025 the city’s financial position was healthy and in better standing than at the end of fiscal year 2024. The council received and filed the audit as part of the consent agenda.
City Administrator Jim Lancaster commended department heads for their work during the budget process and thanked Kelly Schimmoeller of Plante Moran for assistance during the audit and budget review. Councilmember Dr. Wayne specifically praised the administrator and Plante Moran’s work, and Councilmember Marie Gress also lauded the audit findings.
The audit was listed on the consent agenda and the council approved the consent agenda by unanimous vote. The minutes do not include the audit packet as an attachment; the consent action is recorded as received and filed. No formal motions or vote-by-name roll call for the audit beyond the consent-agenda approval were recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: the council did not record further policy action tied to the audit at this meeting; the minutes show routine acceptance and public recognition of the audit work.
