Idaho House introduces five Judiciary Committee bills on masks, driving, immunity and POST council

The Idaho House of Representatives on Jan. 15 took up introductions for five bills sponsored by the Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee, the chamber's reader said.House Bill 489 would add a new section to Title 18 to prohibit use of a mask or disguise during the commission of a criminal offense and provide a sentencing enhancement and an emergency clause; HB 490 would revise a reckless driving provision in Title 49 and declare an emergency; HB 491 would amend immunity provisions for persons giving emergency first aid; HB 492 would amend Idaho Code concerning the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council to add a representative from the Idaho Association of Counties and make technical corrections; and HB 493 would revise penalties related to soliciting commercial activity, with technical corrections and an emergency clause, the reader summarized.The bills were introduced for first reading and referred to the Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee for further consideration; the House did not debate the measures on the floor during this session.Because the text was read aloud by the chamber's reader, no member-level debate or amendments were recorded on the floor at this time.
