Raeford honors three officers for lifesaving response; festival director thanks council

Raeford city leaders recognized three police officers and heard a festival update during the Oct. 4 City Council meeting.
Chief Marc Godwin and Mayor John K. McNeill, III presented life‑saving awards and proclamations to Police Sergeant Michael Norton, Officer Joshua Johnson and Officer Kelvin Smith for their immediate, skilled response to a city resident during an Aug. 24 emergency. The proclamations were presented to each officer and a copy was placed in their personnel file; the officers were applauded and publicly thanked for their professionalism.
Earlier in the meeting Liz McNeill, executive director of the NC Fall Festival, thanked the council for the City of Raeford’s financial support for this year’s festival and reviewed events scheduled Oct. 9–16, 2021.
