Enbridge tells Fairfield it expects PSC approval in March, could begin gas installations in April

Jesse Wilson, senior advisor for municipal and stakeholder affairs at Enbridge Gas, told the Fairfield Town Council the company is awaiting final approval from the Utah Public Service Commission and expects a decision by mid‑March. "If approval is received in March, we anticipate beginning installation in April," Wilson said, adding the full connection process could take approximately one year.

Wilson said Enbridge’s rural outreach program would install service to the meter at no cost to residents; homeowners would remain responsible for costs from the meter into the dwelling, including any required retrofits. He said the program is funded through existing ratepayers and has been used to extend service to other Utah communities. The exact route for new mains has not been finalized, he said, and Enbridge’s right‑of‑way team will contact affected property owners about required easements.

Councilmembers asked about funding certainty and the cost estimate for installing the distribution system; Wilson replied that engineering is ongoing and a final cost estimate was not yet available. Mayor Hollie McKinney said the Council will review the presented franchise agreement with the Town Attorney and place the item on a future agenda for consideration.
