During floor remarks, Representative Garrett described Lassner’s career as “deeply woven into the history and mission of the University of Hawaii,” and said the recognition “honors the breadth, depth, and continuity of that service.” Representative Takayama, who served as chair of the House Higher Education Committee, praised Lassner’s “consistency and respect for people” and noted his long tenure as a distinguishing feature of his leadership.
At the request of members, President David Lassner rose and was recognized by the chamber. Following adoption of the resolution, the chair called a recess to allow members to meet and congratulate the honoree on the House floor.
The action was procedural and honorary; no policy decisions were made as part of the resolution's adoption. The House returned from recess and continued with other business.
