Waupaca County Board elects Dave Morack chair, names James Nygaard vice chair and fills Highway Committee

At its April 16 organizational meeting the Waupaca County Board elected Supervisor Dave Morack as chair and Supervisor James Nygaard as vice chair, completed five Highway Committee appointments and scheduled the Committee on Committees to meet April 16 at 1 p.m.
The Waupaca County Board of Supervisors organized its leadership and committee assignments at an April 16, 2024 meeting called to order by County Clerk Kristy K. Opperman.
County Board Chair election: Supervisor James Nygaard nominated Supervisor Dave Morack for County Board Chair and Supervisor Peter Bosquez nominated himself. After nominations were closed and secret ballots cast, Morack received 20 votes and Bosquez received 7; Morack was declared the winner and the meeting was turned over to County Board Chair Dave Morack, who thanked the board for their support.
Vice Chair election and committee organization: Supervisor Kenneth Jaeger nominated Peter Bosquez for vice chair and Supervisor Cindy Hardy nominated James Nygaard. Secret balloting resulted in Nygaard receiving 21 votes to Bosquez's 6; Nygaard was declared vice chair. The board then filled five seats on the Highway Committee through successive nominations and ballots. Contested and uncontested results recorded in the minutes produced these committee members: Kenneth Jaeger, Lee Much, James Nygaard (unanimous ballot), Dick Rohan and Fred Zaug.
Procedural votes: Earlier in the session the board approved the meeting agenda and the March 19, 2024 minutes by 27-0 votes. Clerk Opperman administered the Oath of Office to newly elected supervisors and distributed Certificates of Election.
Next steps: Chair Morack appointed a Committee on Committees—Morack, Vice Chair Nygaard, DuWayne Federwitz, Scott Purchatzke, Fred Zaug, Cindy Hardy and Kevin Will—and set that committee to meet at 1 p.m. in room LL42.
