Simone Flores of Tamarac’s housing division summarized recommendations from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, saying the committee opted to retain four existing incentive strategies.
Flores listed the strategies as: expediting approvals of development orders and permits for affordable housing; allowing flexible lot configurations to facilitate affordable units; establishing a local government process to review policies and procedures before adoption; and supporting development near transit hubs, major employment centers and mixed‑use projects.
Flores said the AHAC met in May to form the recommendations and noted the reporting cadence changed from tri‑annual to annual; she said the city must submit the housing strategies recommendation report to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by Dec. 31.
Staff presented the item for inclusion on the Dec. 10 commission agenda; no formal action was taken at the workshop.
