Tamarac staff to present two tenant-improvement grants for commission approval

Kenneth Lopez, economic development and redevelopment administrator for the City of Tamarac, previewed two tenant‑improvement grants to be considered by the commission on Jan. 29.
Lopez said the first application is from a beauty supply business doing business as A Touch of Sterling seeking reimbursement of $48,636.07 for tenant improvements at 8142 N. University Drive. "The first one being a beauty supply store called A Touch of Sterling, applying for a grant in the amount of $48,636.07 to be issued as a reimbursement at the end of the project," Lopez said.
The second application is for a coffee café and micro‑roastery operating as Origins Cafe, which Lopez said qualifies as a micro‑roastery producing under 100,000 pounds per year and is applying for the program’s maximum grant of $100,000 for build‑out work at 6805 W. Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac. Lopez said both projects will be included in the Jan. 29 commission packet and he will present more detail at that meeting.
The workshop recorded no commission action; both grants are scheduled for the full commission to consider on Thursday.
